The Future of Sports Journalism in the Digital Era
On 19 August 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the seminar “The Future of Sports Journalism in the Digital Era”, organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh. The session featured Mr. Rifat Hosen, Staff Reporter at Channel 24, as the distinguished speaker.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, attending the seminar gave me an opportunity to gain practical insights into the changing landscape of sports journalism in the digital era. The discussion highlighted how digital platforms, changing audience behaviour, and new forms of media are transforming the way sports news and stories are reported, produced, and presented.
The session also helped me understand the importance of adapting to technological changes while maintaining the core values of journalism, including accuracy, credibility, storytelling, and responsible reporting.
For me, the seminar was a valuable learning experience that broadened my understanding of sports journalism, digital media, and the future of journalism, while inspiring me to continue developing my skills as an aspiring journalist.
Development Communication and Journalism Seminar
On 23 August 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the “Development Communication and Journalism Seminar: Storytelling in Development Journalism”, organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh.
The seminar featured Nazia Adnin, Digital Distribution Coordinator at DW Bangladesh, as the keynote speaker, providing students with valuable insights into the role of storytelling in development journalism and contemporary media practices.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, the session helped me understand how effective storytelling can make development-related issues more meaningful, accessible, and engaging for audiences. I gained new perspectives on connecting journalistic narratives with development issues and communicating stories in ways that can create greater public understanding and social impact.
Overall, the seminar was a valuable learning experience that strengthened my understanding of development journalism, storytelling, digital media, and contemporary journalistic practices, while inspiring me to become more thoughtful and impactful in my own storytelling.
Industry Visit to Somoy TV
On 18 August 2026, I had the opportunity to visit Somoy TV as a student of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, as part of an industry-based practical learning experience. I was accompanied by our faculty members Dr. Md. Aliur Rahman, Ms. Jannatul Ferdous Meem, and Media Lab Coordinator & Editor Mr. Kazi Mahadi Muntasir.
The visit provided me with an opportunity to experience a professional newsroom environment and gain practical insights into how a television news organization operates. Through direct interaction with media professionals, I learned about broadcast operations, news gathering, fact-checking, newsroom workflow, and the practical challenges of working in broadcast journalism.
Experiencing the newsroom environment beyond the classroom helped me connect my academic learning with real-world media practices. The visit strengthened my understanding of broadcast journalism, newsroom operations, fact-checking, and professional media work, while motivating me to further develop my skills as an aspiring journalist.
Industry Visit to ATN News
On 15 August 2026, I had the opportunity to visit ATN News as a student of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, as part of an industry-based practical learning experience. I was accompanied by Dr. Habib Mohammad Ali, Mr. Mohammad Biyazid Khan, Ms. Najmunnahar Urmee, and Lab Instructor Mr. Kazi Mahadi Muntasir.
The visit provided me with valuable exposure to the professional environment of a television news organization. During the visit, I observed newsroom workflows and interacted with media professionals, gaining practical insights into news gathering, reporting, production, newsroom operations, and other aspects of broadcast journalism.
The experience helped me connect my classroom learning with the realities of professional media work. Observing how a television newsroom operates and learning directly from industry professionals strengthened my understanding of broadcast journalism and television news production.
Overall, the visit was a valuable learning experience that broadened my perspective on the media industry and motivated me to further develop my reporting, production, communication, and newsroom skills as an aspiring journalist.
Pre-Production Planning and Direction Workshop
On 4 August 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the workshop “Pre Production Planning and Direction”, organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, at the JMC Media Lab (L-111). The workshop featured Mr. SM Rayhan Sharif, Assistant Professor at KCC Institute, India, as the keynote speaker.
The interactive session provided practical insights into transforming creative ideas into well-planned and impactful visual productions. I learned about the importance of pre-production planning, developing creative concepts, visualizing ideas, and applying effective directing techniques in media production.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, the workshop helped me understand how careful planning and creative direction can improve the quality of visual storytelling. It also strengthened my interest in media production, visual storytelling, creative planning, and directing, encouraging me to apply these skills in my future projects.
Building Academic Partnerships with Istanbul Gelişim University
On 4 August 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the session “Building Academic Partnerships with Istanbul Gelişim University”, organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, at the JMC Media Lab (L-111).
The session brought together academicians and professionals to discuss opportunities for international academic collaboration, knowledge exchange, academic partnerships, and global networking. The keynote session was delivered by Dr. Rahmat Ullah, Assistant Professor at Istanbul Gelişim University and President of CenRaps, with Dr. Habib Mohammad Ali, Chairperson and Associate Professor of JMC, serving as the Session Chair.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, attending the session gave me valuable exposure to the importance of international collaboration in higher education and media studies. The discussions helped me understand how academic partnerships can create opportunities for knowledge sharing, cross-cultural learning, professional networking, and future collaboration.
The session broadened my perspective on global opportunities in journalism and media education and encouraged me to remain open to international learning, networking, and collaborative experiences as I continue developing myself as a media professional.
Field Practice in Broadcast Journalism & TV News Production
On 27 April 2026, I had the opportunity to take part in a field practice session for the Broadcast Journalism & TV News Production course, where we stepped outside the classroom to experience the practical side of television journalism. The session was led by Mr. Mohammad Biyazid Khan, our course instructor.
The field practice gave me the opportunity to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting and understand how journalists observe events, gather information, identify newsworthy elements, and turn real-life moments into meaningful news stories.
Working in the field helped me gain practical experience in news observation, reporting, storytelling, and TV news production. It was an important learning experience that strengthened my confidence in applying journalistic skills beyond the classroom and gave me a closer understanding of the work involved in becoming a broadcast journalist.

On 26 April 2026, I had the opportunity to attend the “Meet the Chairperson” interactive session organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh. The session was led by Dr. Habib Mohammad Ali, Chairperson of the Department of JMC, and provided an open and engaging space for students to exchange ideas, aspirations, and experiences.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, the session gave me an opportunity to listen to valuable insights on academic growth, personal development, career aspirations, and active engagement in departmental activities. The interaction also encouraged me to think more seriously about how I can make the most of my university journey beyond the classroom.
The session was a meaningful experience that motivated me to remain engaged in academic and extracurricular activities, explore new opportunities, and continue working toward my goals as an aspiring journalist.
JMC Club ID Card Distribution and Reception Ceremony
On August 12, 2026, I attended the ID Card Distribution and Reception Ceremony of the newly formed committee of the JMC Media Club, Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh.
As the Secretary of Film & Visual Storytelling of the newly formed 27-member committee, I had the opportunity to be part of this memorable beginning and receive my official club ID card.
The ceremony was attended by Mohammad Habib Ali, Chairperson, Department of JMC; Dr. Md. Oliur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of JMC; Mohammad Bayzid Khan, Lecturer, Department of JMC; Mahadi Muntasir, Lab Coordinator, Department of JMC; and Jannatul Ferdous Mim, Moderator of JMC Media Club and Lecturer, Department of JMC.
The vibrant participation of all 27 committee members made the event lively and meaningful. It marked the beginning of a new journey for the club, where I look forward to contributing through film, visual storytelling, creative content production, and media-related activities.
Celebrating Pohela Boishakh 1433 with JMC Media Club
I had the opportunity to participate in the Pohela Boishakh 1433 celebration organized by the JMC Media Club, Green University of Bangladesh, where students came together to celebrate the Bengali New Year through colors, culture, creativity, and storytelling.
The celebration created a vibrant campus environment where I had the chance to engage with fellow students, experience Bengali cultural traditions, and be part of a memorable community celebration. Beyond the festivities, the event reminded me of the importance of culture, creativity, storytelling, and collective participation in student life.
Being part of the celebration was a meaningful experience that allowed me to connect with my peers while embracing the richness of Bengali culture and traditions. It also added a memorable cultural experience to my university journey as a Journalism and Media Communication student.
Academic Field Trip: Exploring Old Dhaka’s Heritage and Community Life
On 17 February 2026, I had the opportunity to participate in an SDG-aligned academic field trip organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, exploring the culture, heritage, craftsmanship, and community life of Old Dhaka.
The field trip took us through several historically and culturally significant locations, including Jagannath University, Ahsan Manzil, and the banks of the Buriganga River. Being present in these places allowed me to observe the connection between heritage, people, livelihoods, culture, and the changing urban environment from a practical perspective.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, the experience gave me an opportunity to move beyond classroom-based learning and observe real communities and their stories firsthand. It strengthened my understanding of field observation, cultural storytelling, community perspectives, and experiential learning.
Overall, the field trip was a valuable experience that encouraged me to look at everyday places and communities through a more curious and journalistic lens, while deepening my appreciation for heritage, culture, and people-centered storytelling.
JMC Study Tour 2025: Learning Beyond the Classroom
From 23 to 25 December 2025, I had the opportunity to participate in the Study Tour–2025 organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, in Cox’s Bazar.
The study tour was a wonderful combination of learning, exploration, cultural activities, and shared experiences. Alongside visiting different places and experiencing the natural beauty of Cox’s Bazar, I had the opportunity to take part in cultural programs, group activities, a raffle draw, and various interactive moments with fellow students and faculty members.
Beyond the enjoyment, the tour provided an opportunity to strengthen communication, teamwork, and interpersonal relationships with classmates and teachers outside the formal classroom environment. Experiencing new places and sharing different activities with fellow JMC students also created memorable moments throughout my university journey.
Overall, the study tour was a valuable experience that reminded me that learning can happen beyond the classroom through travel, observation, cultural experiences, teamwork, and meaningful connections. It remains one of the memorable experiences of my journey as a Journalism and Media Communication student.
SDG-Aligned Study Visit to NIMC
Students of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh participated in an SDG-aligned study visit to the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) on 21 December 2025.
The visit, conducted under the courses Mass Media in Bangladesh, Fundamentals of Human Communication, and Gender and Media Communication, was accompanied by Dr. Md. Aliur Rahman (Associate Professor), Jannatul Ferdous Meem (Lecturer) and Kazi Mahadi Muntasir (Media Lab Coordinator & Editor).
We were honored to be addressed by Muhammad Hiruzzaman ndc, Director General (Additional Secretary), NIMC, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, who shared valuable insights on future opportunities for media students and the role of NIMC in developing skilled media professionals. Dr. Md. Maruf Nawaz, Director at NIMC, also guided the students through the institute’s modern news studio and radio station, offering hands-on exposure to professional media practices.
The visit enhanced students’ understanding of media policy, public communication, gender-sensitive media practices, and inclusive development, aligning strongly with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
Seminar on Emotional Well-being in Campus Life
The Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, successfully organized a seminar titled "Seminar on Emotional Well-being in Campus Life" on 28 October at 10:30 AM in the JMC Media Lab (L-111).
The session featured Lamia Tasnim, General Secretary of Let's Talk Mental Health, as the keynote speaker, and was chaired by Dr. Habib Mohammad Ali, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of JMC.
It was a meaningful opportunity for students to learn, reflect, and share thoughts on maintaining emotional balance and nurturing mental wellness in campus life.
JMC Community Outreach Program
On 29 October 2025, I had the opportunity to participate in a community outreach program organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Admission Office, at Punchrukhi Begum Anowara College, Araihazar, Narayanganj.
The program brought together 125 enthusiastic students for an engaging session featuring interactive discussions, career insights, and lively question-and-answer segments. As a participant, I had the opportunity to interact with students and observe their curiosity and interest in Journalism and Media Communication, while learning more about how academic outreach can create meaningful connections between universities and communities.
The experience helped me develop a better understanding of community engagement, communication, interaction with young learners, and educational outreach. It was also an opportunity to step beyond the university environment and connect with students from a different educational setting.
Overall, the outreach program was a meaningful experience that strengthened my communication and interpersonal skills while allowing me to contribute to an engaging learning environment and broaden my perspective on community-based communication and youth engagement.
Mobile Journalism: Crafting Digital Narratives
On 7 December 2025, I had the opportunity to attend the workshop “Mobile Journalism: Crafting Digital Narratives”, organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication, Green University of Bangladesh, at the university’s L-110 venue.
The workshop featured Dr. Md. Abdul Kabil Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Journalism, Media and Communication, Daffodil International University, and Dr. Aftab Hossain, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Journalism, Media and Communication, Daffodil International University, as expert speakers. The session was chaired by Dr. Habib Mohammad Ali, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Journalism and Media Communication, GUB.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, the workshop provided me with valuable insights into how mobile devices and digital tools can be used for modern journalism and storytelling. I gained practical knowledge about mobile journalism, digital narratives, visual storytelling, and using accessible technology to create and present journalistic content.
The session helped me understand how journalism is evolving in the digital era and strengthened my interest in developing mobile-based reporting and content production skills. Overall, it was a valuable learning experience that encouraged me to explore new storytelling tools and adapt to the changing landscape of digital journalism.
Media Meets Humanity- Munishiganj
On 27 August 2025, I had the opportunity to participate in an SDG-aligned academic field trip to Munshiganj organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh. The field trip brought together 30 JMC students and provided an opportunity to explore the intersection of journalism, community, culture, and sustainable development beyond the classroom.
During the visit, we explored the lives and stories of the Bede community in Mirkadim, gaining firsthand insight into the experiences of an often-marginalized community. We also visited Radio Bikrampur 99.2 FM, the only community radio station in the Dhaka Division, where we learned about the role of community media in amplifying local voices and promoting civic engagement. Our visit to Daily Savvatar Alo, a local newspaper, provided further exposure to community-based journalism and the role of local media in serving its audience.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, the field trip gave me valuable practical exposure to information gathering, news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, and Op-Ed development. More importantly, interacting with communities and media professionals helped me understand the importance of listening to people's stories and representing diverse voices responsibly.
Overall, the experience strengthened my understanding of inclusive journalism, community media, field reporting, and people-centered storytelling, while reminding me that meaningful journalism begins with being present in the community and listening to the stories that often remain unheard.
Biological Bases of Behaviour: Understanding the Science Behind Human Behaviour
On 3 August 2025, I had the opportunity to attend a special session on “Biological Bases of Behaviour” as part of the Introduction to Psychology course at Green University of Bangladesh, led by Mr. Monjur Kibriya Bhuiyan. The session was conducted by Dr. Rajib Sutradhor, Medical Officer of Green University, whose medical perspective added valuable depth to the discussion.
The session focused on understanding how biological systems, particularly the brain and nervous system, influence human thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. Dr. Sutradhor explained the connection between biological processes and different aspects of human behaviour, helping us relate psychological concepts to the functioning of the human body.
As a Journalism and Media Communication student, the session gave me a broader understanding of the biological factors behind human behaviour. It also helped me recognize how knowledge of psychology and human behaviour can contribute to more effective communication, observation, and people-centered storytelling.
Overall, the session enriched my understanding of the relationship between biology, psychology, and human behaviour, while encouraging me to look at human actions and responses from a more informed and analytical perspective.
SDG-Aligned Field Trip to Zinda Park!
Organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, this educational visit on 15 July 2025 brought together 70 students and 4 faculty members for a full day of hands-on learning and creative exploration.
Students explored sustainable community living, practiced real-life field reporting, videography, and documentary production, while engaging with themes of art, heritage, and environmental storytelling, directly connecting their academic courses with real-world contexts.
The field trip encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and multimedia storytelling aligned with the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Community Outreach Program at Narsingdi Independent College
On 23 April 2025, I participated in a Community Outreach Program organized by the Department of Journalism and Media Communication (JMC), Green University of Bangladesh, at Narsingdi Independent College, Saheprotab, Narsingdi. The program, titled “Media and Communication in the 21st Century: A Gateway to Awareness and Opportunities,” brought together more than 300 students through an interactive seminar, documentary screening, quiz contest, and prize-giving ceremony.
The program provided valuable insights into media literacy, journalism, higher education, and career opportunities in media and communication. I also had the opportunity to interact with students and experience how educational outreach can create awareness and inspire young people.
Overall, the experience strengthened my communication, engagement, and community outreach skills, while giving me a meaningful opportunity to represent JMC beyond the classroom.
Boishakhi Festival 2025
On 19 April 2025, I participated in the Boishakhi Festival 2025 at Green University of Bangladesh, organized to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Bengali New Year. The day-long celebration featured a colorful rally, folk music, traditional dance performances, and cultural stalls representing different departments and clubs.
As a student of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication, I had the opportunity to be part of JMC’s participation in the festival. The experience allowed me to engage with fellow students, celebrate Bengali culture, and appreciate the diversity of our traditions through music, food, attire, and creative expressions.

The Department of Journalism and Media Communication at Green University of Bangladesh hosted a gorgeous Ramadan Iftar party and a heartfelt farewell program on March 10 (Monday) at the Green University Cafeteria.
Our respected Chairperson, Dr. Habib Mohammad Ali, led the event, making it a memorable evening of unity and gratitude. Before breaking our fast, the department officially bid farewell to our esteemed former faculty members, Md. Ibrahim Azad and Al Amin Islam Rakib, expressing appreciation for their invaluable contributions.
As the sun set, we prayed together, seeking Almighty's blessings, and then shared iftar in an atmosphere filled with warmth and togetherness.

Bridging the Gap: The Role of Development Communication in Advancing the SDGs
On November 11, 2024, I participated in an ITD workshop organized by the Department of Journalism & Media Communication at BARD Cumillah. The workshop brought together 55 students and faculty members to explore the role of development communication in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through insightful sessions, discussions, and hands-on learning, I gained a deeper understanding of how effective communication can raise awareness, amplify community voices, and contribute to sustainable development. The experience also helped me connect academic knowledge with real-world development practices while enjoying the inspiring environment of the BARD campus.
Library Orientation Program
I participated in the Library Orientation Program organized for the Department of Journalism and Media Communication, where freshers were introduced to the library’s facilities, resources, and essential rules. Facilitated by Nawshaba Bulia, Library Officer, the session provided practical guidance on effectively using library resources for academic learning and research.
Under the leadership of Dr. Md. Aliur Rahman, Chairperson of the JMC Department, the program was an informative and inspiring experience. It helped me understand the importance of utilizing library resources effectively to strengthen academic knowledge and learning.
Successful Launch of the Mentorship Programme for Fall 2024!
On September 23, 2024, at 1:30 PM in L111, the Introductory Meeting for the Mentorship Programme started with a warm welcome from the Honorable Chair, Dr. Aliur Rahman. He emphasized the critical role mentors play in guiding freshers through their academic journey.
Following the inauguration, Jubayer Ahmed, Mentor of JMC, led an insightful session where he shared his guidelines.
At GUB, mentoring goes beyond academic advising-especially for first-semester students. The Mentorship Programme supports students in navigating their studies by providing academic, administrative, and personal guidance from student mentors and faculty moderators. Mentors offer crucial advice on course enrollment, long-term academic success, and much more, as per the Green University Students Mentorship Program (GUSMP) policy.
Beginning My University Journey at Green University
September 17, 2024, marked a memorable beginning to my university journey as I attended the Freshers' Orientation Program of the Department of Journalism and Media Communication at Green University of Bangladesh. Held at the university campus, the program welcomed the Fall 2024 students and introduced us to the values, academic environment, and traditions of the JMC Department.
The presence of distinguished guests, including Captain (Navy) Shaikh Mohammad Salahuddin (LPR), Registrar, GUB, Mr. Mohiuddin Sarker, Editor of Dhaka Post, and Ms. Sharmin Lina, Senior Broadcast Journalist at NTV, made the occasion particularly inspiring. The program was presided over by Dr. Md. Aliur Rahman, Chairperson of the JMC Department.
For me, this orientation was more than just a welcome event—it was the beginning of a new chapter filled with learning, opportunities, and aspirations in Journalism and Media Communication.
